Fernet Branca Experiential "Tales of the Cocktail"

agency creative work

One night Austin England (neighbor / tattooer/ neon artist), Chris (CCO) and myself started riffing on an idea for an experiential event for the famous bartenders weekend in New Orleans called "Tales of the Cocktail". The concept was simple. Rent out a space in NOLA on Magazine Street, have the companies fabrication arm build out the facility and design it, have the XR team build an interactive wall, and have Austin work closely with the Creative Department to make merchandise for the event. The kicker was creating a pop up tattoo parlour with two of Austin's good buddies to tattoo with him. They created a custom flash sheet and asked their buddy Jeff to come in and chain stitch on the merchandise. In the end hundreds of people got tattoo's and folks would line up in the morning before opening to hopefully get one. All the merchandise sold out, and the in the end the client was over the moon. The event was so popular over the weekend, it was the talk of the town. Fernet was so excited that they carried on the tattoos and custom merchandise for the "Secret Hand Shake Tour" in both Long Beach and San Francisco. I really just helped ideate this and usher it along to make sure it did not get killed before the idea could see the light of day. Ultimately I directed a film for each of the cities and shot Medium Format, 35mm and Digital stills which are designed to be used for a book I am months into for Fernet Branca's 180th anniversary celebration.
